The history of Pskov is filled with vivid facts, events, and the main confirmation of these words is interesting sights. Cultural monument, which we will talk about today: Transfiguration of the Savior Mirozhsky Monastery.

This is a 12th century monastery complex, famous for the only surviving pre-Mongol frescoes of the cathedral church in Russia.

In ancient times, it was one of the cultural centers of the city. Here the Pskov annals were kept, the cathedral had a library and an icon-painting workshop. After the secularization of church lands in the 18th century, its territory was reduced to its current size.

The ensemble is taken under state protection as a monument of federal significance.
