Mason House - an elegant building in the quiet side street of Pskov, known to locals as the Mason House, has nothing to do with the notorious secret societies. Just at the beginning of the last century, a certain Scottish citizen Ludwig Mason moved to Russia, became a teacher of history, collected ancient coins and works of art. And the Pskov people baptized him in their own way - in Mason. He built the Art Nouveau housing for himself and his collections in 1910.

After the revolution, Mason’s trail was lost, and the house was transformed into an ordinary communal apartment. In 1998, in the basement they discovered the cloister masonry and traces of burials. According to rumors, it was here that the remains of the famous Pskov merchant Pogankin were found. Since 2002, in the renovated building there is a storage facility of the Pskov State United Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.
